Shots from the July 25th Session with Eliza

Here's some amazing photos from the session last week with Eliza. This was great session despite me dropping the ball on the music. It was a quiet session of concentration on part of the artists and the model. The poses and positions Eliza displayed this session really made me look at the human body in a new way. Our bodies can turn, stretch and defy in so many ways and create such beautiful angles and looks. Awesome session.

This was the first pose...

For those of you that missed it or want to see an encore, Eliza will be back on September 19th. Mark your calendars :)

Last pose... [Live]

10 minute pose? On point, literally. [Live Update]

Live Update

Live from today's session with Eliza

It's almost time for a Sunday of sketches!

I have a surprise this session that didn't get delivered for the first. It's a gadget that I can think will be a nice touch for poses. ;)

If you can't make it this time around, check out the site during. As you might have seen from the last session, I'll be posting live photos from the session.

See this afternoon,
Konstant

Flyer Preview

So yeah, the flyers should have been done and out weeks ago but *shrug* better late than never. Here's a preview. It's a rough quick sketch but I think it's appropriate for a life drawing program. Flyers will be done on Monday. Feel free to drop in at Planet Rooth Studio Gallery that afternoon to pick some up to help me promote. :)

PS - If you haven't figured it out by now, pink is my favorite color.

Kate & Steven

Meet with two more models, Kate and Steven.

Kate is a young model who just graduated high school is lending her modeling skills to Perspective. The fishbowl, the glass enclosure at the front of the studio, was occupied so we sat out on the veranda upstairs to chat. Kate is an impressing young woman who doesn't know quite yet what life has in store for her but knows it will be related to art. She is an artist herself and likes doing portraiture. I forgot to take a picture but she met me wearing a very cute outfit and said she has her own distinct sense of style. She also said she changes her hair all the time. It was black at the time and she has blue eyes, never a bad combo. So, look forward to her and her style on costumed days.

I was literally running late when I met Steven. Luckily, I was greeted with a smile as I apologized for my tardiness and caught my breath. As you can see from the picture, Steven is a handsome man who's going to be working with us for our sessions. He's done art modeling around town at various community colleges in the past and is ready to get back into it. He has a great energy and I'm confident about what he'll bring to the ta...platform as a model. You'll be seeing Steven on nude figure days and perhaps on the double model days I'm planning in the future.

Sunday with Shealyn and Kassandra

Today was quite the lovely Sunday. It reminded me of why I love my hometown. I was also reminded of why I love being an artist as I meet with two lovely models today.

The first model was Shealyn. Coincidentally, we arrived at the studio at the same time. I "had" to make a run to In-n-Out for a 3x3 and fries. I thought I'd be late but we met right outside as we both parked our cars. I recognized her right off the bat from her pictures online. As you can see from the picture, she is cute as a button, whatever that means.

She is sweetheart who was a pleasure to speak with. We did the quick Q & A and the conversation soon turned to talk of potential costumes. I asked her about Halloween and she mentioned her fiancee is a special fx artists and she would be willing to dress up as *drum roll* a zombie. Yes, one of my aspirations for this program is fulfilled. I have her scheduled her for October 24th and am waiting with bated breath for living dead posing goodness. Though I may have her come in and pose before then.

Kassandra came to meet me all the way from Ocean Beach where she is a massage therapist. She is also an experienced art model with a great vibe and cool ink on her arm. We talked about OB, and about how she's planning to go to Burning Man um, oh yeah and about Perspective. Kassandra models both nude and costumed. She told me she likes to create outfits; that's always fun to hear. She said she's working on a samurai outfit for another project that she may model for Perspective in October. :) You can expect to see her posing before that in August.

Zombies and samurais (would prefer shinobis). A wonderful Sunday indeed.

Yesterday's Meet

So, I meet with two new potential models yesterday.

The first was Lee. Lee is a 48 year old man who loves to play piano and who has been in San Diego as long as I've been alive. He told me he'd done some modeling work in LA for drawing groups in the past. He seemed interested in getting back to posing.

The second model is Eliza. Eliza is an intensely trained & talented pole dancer. On a whim, I sent an email to local pole dance instruction schools looking for info as well as any interested parties. I wasn't even sure if holding a pose on a pole was possible. But, Eliza was the contact I got back eager and interested in helping out my program.

She and her boyfriend, Cary (great name, like the great actor), came by and we chatted for...probably an hour. It was good times. I was happy to find that she has her own pole equipment which stands alone with a little platform. Eliza views the program as a new challenge to take on and test her skills. She has an awesome personality with talent to match. They showed me a couple pictures of Eliza in action. You know that yoga-ish pose where the person is on their stomach and reaches back and grabs their ankles, bowing their body? Well, Eliza was doing that in the air with just the pole between arm and side to suspend her. She's also an abstract painter and Cary is photographer. Art begets art.

I have good feelings about the pair and I'm stoked on being able to present something in a life drawing program that I've personally never seen before.

First Model

I meet with one of my potential (new) models today. Her name is Leah. She not hard to miss as she rolled up in front of the shop with bright pink hair (love it) riding her bicycle in a black sun dress. She's a 5'8" size 16 woman with (what seemed to be) a southern accent and with a personality as colorful as her hair. She has access to a lot of costumes and is down to pose without. She also has a background in theater and is willing to build little vignettes to go with sessions. Awesome.

2009 Perspective Session

Here's some pictures from one of 2009's Perspective sessions....

This was at The Marquee which was located inside a 1920's church in Golden Hill.
